Difference between Fashion and street trends?
Does anyone see a difference between street trends and fashion? I mean, I buy one magazine a month – InStyle, and that’s great, it tells me what’s In Fashion. But sometimes the most popular street trends, the things everyone wears on the streets, never appear on the pages of the High Fashion magazines.
And vice versa. I can buy something that’s just hot off the runways, and people look at me like I’ve got three eyes.
I understand that Haute Couture is not part of Urban culture, but even things like this season’s celtic tartans: I got myself this amazing Moschino pencil skirt, really understated and classical, and my cousin, in this horrendous skirt-over-jeans look I’ve seen around, made me feel like a fashion simpleton.
At the same time, cropped leggings seemed to hit the street long before they hit the catwalk. Am I missing something? Should I assume that next season’s look will be the skirt-over-jeans?
I don’t get it.
